Overnight Home Invasion, Police Looking For Armed Suspects

  SOUTH TOMS RIVER – Police are on the hunt for two suspects who broke into a South Toms River residence overnight, fleeing in the victim’s vehicle.

Ocean County Scanner News was the first to report the incident.

  On Oct. 24 at approximately 1:20 a.m., police responded to a residence on Belmont Avenue for reports of a robbery. According to police, two men entered the residence, one reportedly armed with a handgun. The suspects then fled the scene in one of the victims’ vehicles “with unknown proceeds,” police added.

  It wasn’t long before patrol units located the stolen vehicle, abandoned a short distance away. Using a K9 track officers were led to Magnolia Avenue, where it is believed the suspects may have entered into a second vehicle.

  “At this time, it is unknown if the victims were known to the suspects. We believe this was an isolated, specifically targeted event and we have no reason to believe there are any immediate threats to the public,” stated South Toms River Police.

  The Beachwood Police Department assisted with the initial response, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit is assisting with the follow-up investigation.
