TOMS RIVER – Exit 81 Southbound on the Garden State Parkway with be temporarily closed this weekend while SUEZ continues work on a water main project in the area.

As part of SUEZ infrastructure improvement program, Exit 81 southbound will be closed to motorists from 8 p.m. on Friday at 8 p.m. through Sunday morning at 5 a.m., weather permitting, the company stated.

“SUEZ crews have been working on Waterline Road, Lakehurst Road, Highland Parkway and West Water Street since September. We are now ready for another important piece of the project – installing the new water main pipe under the Parkway which will require closure of the ramp at Exit 81 southbound,” said Jim Mastrokalos, Director of Operations. “Information will also be available on the SUEZ website at mysuezwater.com and on our social media channels.”

Additional exit and entrance ramp lane shifts are expected in the near future as the project continues. SUEZ anticipates that substantial completion will be accomplished by late fall 2019 and final restoration, in spring 2020.
