LITTLE EGG HARBOR – One person was sent to the hospital after a fire broke out early this morning in a southern Ocean County home, officials said.

First responders were dispatched to a home on Lake Winnepesaukee Drive after midnight to extinguish the blaze that ultimately destroyed the entire home.

Two residents inside the home were able to escape, but both suffered from smoke inhalation. One of the individuals was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

At this time, it is unclear what started the fire. However, the fire chief said that wind helped spread the blaze across the house.
