BEACHWOOD – It was their dog, not their smoke detectors, that alerted a Beachwood family of a fire in their Harpoon Street home.
Beachwood and Pine Beach fire departments responded to the fire just before 2 a.m. July 16. They found a second-floor room and its contents on fire, which teams extinguished in about 20 minutes.
There were no reported injuries to the residents.
The Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
