WALL — Emergency crews in Wall Township were working Friday at the scene of a serious crash involving a tractor-trailer that jackknifed on Route 34, brought down several utility poles and sparked fires, according to police.
The crash happened between Belmar Boulevard and West Hurley Pond Road, where the truck folded across the roadway, creating a dangerous scene and knocking out power in the surrounding area. Witnesses reported fires linked to burning transformers.
Wall Township police said emergency services remain on scene, while utility crews work to restore power. The New Jersey Department of Transportation is also assisting with traffic control as crews try to clear the wreckage and secure the area.
Authorities warned drivers to expect major delays and urged motorists to use alternate routes if possible.
Officials have not yet released information on injuries or what led up to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
