Toms River Police: No One Hurt In Car Fire

TOMS RIVER – Township police reported that no one was hurt after a car’s engine compartment caught fire.

The call came in the morning of April 25, at just before 8 a.m. a 26-year-old driver was going to his job at Lowe’s Home Improvement on Hooper Avenue, when he saw smoke coming out from under his hood.

Police said he was able to pull over into the PNC Bank parking lot and exit the car safely. Firefighters from Toms River Fire Companies No. 1 and 2 responded to find his 1995 Mercedes fully engulfed in flames. They were able to extinguish the fire.
