Woman Stabbed In Toms River Domestic Violence Incident

TOMS RIVER – A woman remains in serious condition at a shore area trauma center after she was viciously attacked while driving a male passenger, police said.

Toms River Police did not release the identities of the victim and the assailant in the incident. Officers were called to North Bay Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. on March 23 for a reported domestic violence incident which involved a stabbing.

Police Department Spokesperson Jillian Messina said the woman was driving the man when he began stabbing her. She pulled the car over to the side of the road and exited the vehicle while the male suspect followed her out of the car, continuing to attack her.

Police said a good samartian jumped in to stop the man and detained him until officers arrived.

The victim was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Cente rin Neptune where she’s undergoing surgery for her injuries.

The man was charged with first-degree attempted homicide and other weapons offenses.

The incident remains under investigation by the Toms River Police Detective Bureau. The charges were approved by The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
