
TOMS RIVER – Ocean County’s Veterans Day parade will step off at 9:30 a.m. November 11 in downtown Toms River, featuring veterans groups, school bands and community organizations.
The procession will form at the Toms River Shopping Center at Routes 37 and 166, then head south on Main Street (Route 166) before turning east onto Washington Street. A wreath-laying ceremony will follow the march. Both events are organized by the Toms River Veterans Commission.
After the parade, winners of the commission’s annual patriotic essay contest will present their work from the porch of Town Hall, 33 Washington St., where officials and veterans are also expected to offer remarks.
The commission is inviting local veterans, school bands and other marchers to join. Participants should assemble between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m. at Main Street (Route 166) and Route 37. Political messages are not permitted.
