TOMS RIVER – Township police are investigating a fatal crash that left two people dead after a motorcycle collided with a pedestrian on Route 37 west near Coolidge Avenue.

Authorities said the crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on October 26. The identities of those involved and further details about the circumstances of the collision have not yet been released.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to Jersey Shore Online that Toms River Police are leading the probe.

According to initial chatter on various scanner pages, both the motorcyclist and another individual were pronounced dead before rescuers could render aid.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and Toms River Police closed all westbound lanes between Coolidge and Gouvernor avenues for several hours while crash investigators and CSI units worked at the scene.

Witnesses described the aftermath as devastating. One bystander said they attempted to help but found the victims already deceased, while others expressed shock at the scene’s severity.

This is a developing story and as soon as we have more information, we will update the article.
