Toms River Officer Injured While Suspect Takes A Swim

 

 

TOMS RIVER – Police said a suspect was arrested after attempting to flee officers on foot – and then in the water – in downtown Toms River.

The incident happened in the area of Lakehurst Road and Edgewood Drive. Police said the woman ran away from officers. She then jumped into the water in the area of Highland Parkway. From there, she tried to swim and run through the swampy river water.

Ultimately, she was taken into custody at about 4 p.m. with the assistance of the Toms River Fire Company’s Water Rescue Unit, as well as other agencies.

The woman’s identity, and the initial investigation that started the chase, has not be released at this time.
