Toms River Shooting Victim Identified

TOMS RIVER – The victim of the shooting at the Hampton Garden Apartments on March 5 has been identified as 30-year old Steven E. Stallworth of Brick.

Police said they withheld the name of the victim until after notifying his next of kin.

On the evening of March 5, Toms River Police and EMS responded to the Hampton Garden Apartments in Toms River, finding Stallworth unresponsive due to a gunshot wound. Stallworth was later pronounced dead on the scene.

Following an autopsy, the Ocean County Medical Examiner determined that Stallworth died as a result of a single gunshot, ruling his death a homicide.

Police continue to investigate the incident and encourage anyone with information about the event to come forward.
