TOMS RIVER – Police said a local man had hundreds of images of child pornography on two cell phones when they arrested him.

Kevin Wurtenberg, 38, of Toms River was charged with Possession of Child Pornography.

The New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force has a way of detecting whenever material like this is downloaded. It was tracked to a home in Toms River, and investigators went to that location on June 9. They found two phones with several hundred images of child pornography on them. He was brought to jail pending a detention hearing, police said.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer thanked his office’s High Tech Crime Unit, Toms River Township Police Department, New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the United States Department of Homeland Security – Investigations Unit, for their collaborative assistance.

Charges are merely accusations until proven in a court of law.
