Toms River Man Charged With Child Molestation

TOMS RIVER – A Toms River man was charged with sexually assaulting a child after the child spoke about the abuse to a school guidance counselor, police said.

  James Holland, 53, was arrested on Jan. 15 and was charged with Criminal Sexual Contact and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. He was arrested by the Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit and Toms River Police.

  The victim was disclosed as being younger than 13, police said. It is unknown how the two knew each other.

  The Prosecutor’s Office stated that he is currently lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing and is innocent until proven guilty.
