Toms River Introduces Safe Exchange Zone

TOMS RIVER – Two parking spots at the Toms River Police Department are now designated a Safe Exchange Zone.

The police department is located at 255 Oak St.

The clearly marked spots offer residents an added layer of security when exchanging good for online transactions, private sales and safe child custody exchanges. The spots are under 24-hour surveillance in a well-lit area, open to the public 24/7.

Police recommend that exchanges take place during daylight hours when possible.

Toms River Police and other township employees will not act as a witness or be part of any transaction.

Police remind residents that the exchange of weapons, controlled dangerous substances and its paraphernalia are all illegal and not permitted on township property.
