TOMS RIVER – An SUV crashed through a busy 7-Eleven on Monday afternoon, tying up traffic in the area of Water and Main Streets. No one was injured but there was plenty of broken glass and mangled merchandise for the owners to clean up.
Police Chief Mitch Little tells Jersey Shore Online that 48-year-old Debbie Abazia of Villages, Florida was behind the wheel of her 2005 Dodge Durango when she entered the parking lot and while attempting to park, crashed right through the front window.
Abazia told police that her flip flop may have slipped off her foot, causing her to hit the gas instead of the brake.
According to Toms River Police Spokesperson Jillian Messina, Abazia drove up on to the curb and then struck a concrete trash receptacle and continued through the store front glass window, crashing into a lottery machine, sun glass display rack, and ice cream freezer.
There were no injuries were reported at the scene.
