TOMS RIVER – The 2019 American Honey Princess will pay a special visit to Toms River and will be a guest presenter at the Barnegat Bay EcoCenter on June 13.

Nicole Medina, 19, from Green Township, New Jersey, was crowned earlier this year, which makes her the national spokesperson on behalf of the American Beekeeping Federation, a trade organization representing beekeepers and honey producers throughout the United States.

As a beekeeper, she will be speaking about the importance of honeybees in the state, and how they are responsible for agriculture and the quality of food. Honey samples will be provided, but the speaking arrangement will discuss more benefits than just honey.

Medina is a sophomore at Sussex County Community College studying business administration. Nicole has been keeping bees for five years with her family and is an active volunteer in the Sussex County Beekeepers Association. Prior to being the American Honey Princess, she was the 2018 New Jersey Honey Queen.

This is one of many stops she will be making throughout 2019 to promote beekeeping and discussing how important bees are to the environment.
