Police Seize Pot, Cash, Raw Heroin In Ocean County Drug Bust

TOMS RIVER – A suspicious vehicle investigation led police to 2 grams marijuana, $580, and over 20 grams of raw heroin. 

  On March 2, officers arrested 27-year old Covan Taylor of Huttig, Arkansas, charging him with possession of heroin, possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of heroin over one half ounce with the intent to distribute (Second Degree). Police also arrested the driver of the vehicle, 68-year old John Woodall of Sardis, Mississippi, charging him with possession of marijuana.

  When a suspicious vehicle was observed during a surveillance operation, the Toms River Police Department Special Enforcement Team followed the lead to find 2 grams of marijuana, $580 cash, and a plastic bag consisting of more than 20 grams of raw heroin. When broken down, the raw heroin had the potential to be 45 brick, which is more than 2,000 doses, and worth $10,000, police said. 

  Taylor was previously held at the Ocean County Jail but has since been released pending a court date. Woodall was released on a summons.
