Police Investigate Another Case Of Shots Fired In Toms River

  TOMS RIVER – Police are investigating another instance of shots being fired, this time in the downtown area.

  At around 11:30 p.m. on October 13, there was a report of gunshots fired in the area of Washington Street. Fortunately, there are no reported injuries.

  “We are allocating all of our resources to root out the individuals responsible for this brazen lawlessness. This behavior will not be tolerated,” Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. “I can’t comment on the specifics of this investigation, I can tell you the detectives are working around the clock to bring the individuals responsible to justice.”

  “The Toms River Police Department is providing extra patrols and is committed to the safety of our residents,” Toms River Police Chief Mitch Little said.

  Another shooting took place on October 11, severely injuring a young man in a car near the Toms River Apartments on Route 9.

  In Jackson, persons unknown shot bullets into an empty home on Route 571 on October 9.

  It is unknown if any of these incidents are related. They are mentioned in this article to show that there have been other violent crimes in the area.
