Phone Scams Warning Issued

NEW JERSEY – Law enforcement agencies are warning the public to be weary of those calling residences stating they represent the Social Security Administration.

A high volume of calls have been made from people who have been victim of, or are reporting, phone scams stating the caller was and employee of the Social Security Administration and was demanding “immediate payment” to avoid arrest.

The scammers are asking for payment in the form of gift cards.  Should this happen to you, do not ever pay someone over the phone with gift cards, cash, checks or credit cards.
