Pedestrian Struck In Toms River, Serious Condition

TOMS RIVER — An afternoon accident in the township leaves a resident of the Dover Woods Health Care Center in serious condition.

Police Chief Mitch Little confirms the 60-year-old man was attempting to cross Route 9 at the intersection of Route 70 when he was struck by a passing car.

The unidentified victim was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

As a result of the incident, Route 9 was closed for an hour during the investigation.

The road has since re-opened to traffic.
