TOMS RIVER – Talk about starting the year on a high note!

A lucky Ocean County lottery player rang in the new year with a $184,057 win after purchasing a Blast Off to Cash Fast Play ticket on Thursday, January 1, officials said.

The winning $5 ticket was sold at Stop & Shop #811 on Route 37 East in Toms River and was worth 50% of the Fast Play Progressive jackpot, according to the New Jersey Lottery.

Fast Play Progressive games give players instant results, with every ticket sold adding to one growing jackpot. How much of that jackpot a player can win depends on the ticket price, with higher-priced tickets earning a larger share.

After the Ocean County win, the Fast Play Progressive jackpot climbed to more than an estimated $190,000, giving players another shot at a big payout.

The New Jersey Lottery said Fast Play Progressive tickets are available at all authorized lottery retailers across the state.
