Multiple Fire Companies Battle Toms River Apartment Fire

  TOMS RIVER -Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention Chief Inspector John Novak noted a two alarm fire at the Jamestown Village Apartment Complex that was extinguished earlier today.

  The blaze began shortly before 1 p.m. which is the time when Toms River Fire Companies No.1 and No.2 were dispatched to the Complex for a reported structure fire.

  Based on the report of a confirmed fire a 2nd alarm was made and the two fire companies were joined by firefighters from Pleasant Plains, East Dover, Island Heights and Silverton fire companies.  The fire was contained to the kitchen of a first-floor apartment.  Bureau inspectors were able to evacuate all the occupants and pets from the adjoining apartment units 

  It was extinguished within 15 minutes of the receipt of the alarm.  There were no injuries reported and all of the surrounding apartments that were evacuated were permitted to return to their apartments with the exception of the apartment that caught fire The scene was turned over to the property owners and fire investigators. Several EMS units also responded to the scene including Toms River Township EMS and Silverton EMS Squad 36

The Toms River Police Department was on scene with traffic management, scene security, and investigation support.
