TOMS RIVER – On social media, hockey families were posting pictures of their hockey sticks in front of their home with the hashtag Sticks Out For Aidan. Condolences and memories were being shared.

All of this was for Aidan Inteso, an 18-year-old from Toms River who served as the captain last year for the Toms River South-East Varsity Ice Hockey team.

“Aidan embodied everything you could hope for in a student athlete,” read the team’s announcement of his passing. “On the ice, there was nobody tougher. Off the ice, Aidan was a kind and caring person, earning him the admiration of all who knew him. The South-East family mourns his passing. Please keep his family in your prayers.”

Inteso was a 4-year Varsity defenseman, and served as assistant captain during his junior year. He received the “Warrior Award” in the 2018-2019 school year and “Student Athlete” award during the 2019-2020 year.
