Flipped Over Car And Needles On Hooper Avenue

TOMS RIVER – A Toms River man faces a raft of charges including needle possession after he flipped his car over on Hooper Avenue in a Saturday afternoon motor vehicle crash.

Toms River Police said 33-year-old Brian Roebuck Jr. of the township was standing aside his flipped vehicle at the intersection of Hooper Avenue and Walnut Street when officers arrived at the scene around 4:21 p.m. Saturday, August 25.

Roebuck was treated for a cut on his arm at the scene. Police then found two hypodermic needles – one on the ground close to the driver and his car and the other sticking outside of Roebuck’s front right pants pocket.

He was then taken into custody and transported to the Toms River Police Department Jail without incident.

Toms River Police Spokesperson Jillian Messina said “a complaint was signed against Roebuck for Possession of Hypodermic Needles as well as a motor vehicle summonses for Reckless Driving and Failure to Maintain Lane.”

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Toms River Traffic Officer Terry Warren.
