TOMS RIVER – A Harvey Cedars Police Office is accused of stealing evidence from the department, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said Friday.

Christopher Oldham, 32, of Manahawkin, was charged with theft of moveable property, tampering with evidence, and filing a false police report.

Oldham, a detective with the Harvey Cedars Police Department, allegedly stole a $200 silver necklace. He had indicated in a report that the necklace was unclaimed property and had been turned over to the department; however, an audit showed it was never turned over.

Oldham is suspended without pay pending a resolution.
