TOMS RIVER – Congressman Andy Kim (D-3rd) will host a town hall on opioid and addiction issues, bringing in voices from people who are dealing directly with the issue.

The meeting will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 10:30 a.m. in the Mancini Room of the Toms River branch of the Ocean County Library, 101 Washington Street.

Attending will be the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Hope Sheds Light, Community Medical Center – RWJ Barnabas Health, the New Jersey Organizing Project, the Ocean County Health Department and a local physician who works in the field of pain management.

“I’ve heard heartbreaking stories at my town halls from parents and neighbors in our community who have lost loved ones to addiction issues,” said Kim. “Solutions to this crisis don’t just exist in Congress, and they require real urgency and a comprehensive strategy. That’s why I’m bringing our top leaders on this issue together to find where the rubber meets the road and what we can do to make a difference in our communities.”

Congressman Kim is a member of the bipartisan Freshmen Working Group on Addiction, a group of new members of Congress committed to finding solutions to opioid and addiction issues in their communities. He is also a member of the Bipartisan Heroin and Opioids Task Force.
