Car Crash Causes Fire In Toms River

TOMS RIVER – A 17-year-old Beachwood resident was issued a careless driving summons after causing an accident in the township Friday night.

Toms River Police Spokesperson Jillian Messina confirmed the crash which was first reported by Ocean County Scanner News.

Police units were dispatched around 6:50 p.m. to the corner of Bay and Oak Avenue.

Messina said “a 2007 Audi driven by a 17 year old minor of Beachwood, was eastbound on Bay Avenue attempting to turn left onto Oak Avenue when she hit a 2017 Toyota Highlander driven by 37-year-old Tracey Pantiliano of Toms River, who was driving westbound on Bay Avenue.”

The Audi became fully engulfed in fire, as a result of the collision.

The Toms River Fire Department responded with multiple vehicles and extinguished the fire. The 17-year-old driver made it out safely before the blaze. She was issued a summons for failure to yield at an intersection.
