Victims Sustain Minor Injuries In Route 72 Collision

  STAFFORD – Victims of Saturday’s motor vehicle crash on Route 72 at Nautilus Drive sustained only minor injuries, police said.

  On March 2 at approximately 8 p.m., police responded to a collision on Route 72.

  Mary Yeckley, 75, of Manahawkin was traveling east on Route 72 in a 2003 Kia when she attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Nautilus Drive. Yeckley’s vehicle collided with a 2015 Kia, driven by 19-year old Michael Elassar of Manahawkin. Elassar was traveling west on Route 72 through the intersection at Nautilus when the collision occurred.

  Police stated the both vehicles sustained “heavy damage” and were towed from the scene.

  Yeckley, a passenger in Yeckley’s car, and Elassar sustained minor injuries in the collision and were transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center. 

  Police issued Yeckley a summons for Careless Driving.
