MANAHAWKIN – It was an abundantly cheerful holiday season for all in the Southern Regional community.  Students, faculty and staff came together to collect a whopping 72,095 nonperishable food items for donation during the month of December.

This was the district’s 18th year of donating food items to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission and students did not disappoint. More than 72,000 items were donated by the generous efforts of students giving back to their community. The haul was shown off during the school’s annual holiday assembly on Dec. 21 as well.

The items added to the total of 423,386 food items donated to the Rescue Mission by the Southern community over the years.

Not only this, but the Southern Regional Music Department collected over $1,000 at concerts to buy donation items for children.
