Rider In Critical Condition After Off-Road Crash

  LACEY – A man riding a dirt bike off-road suffered severe spinal and head injuries after failing to negotiate a turn safely, police said.

  Jose Perez, 43, of Queens was traveling along a trail about 1.5 miles south of the intersection of Lacey Road and Carriage Road just after noon on March 22. He lost control of his dirt bike and was thrown from it.

 In addition to police, Lacey Township EMS, MONOC Paramedics, and the Forked River and Bamber Lakes Fire Departments responded to the scene. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit also responded to assist in the investigation. He was transported by helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
