Police Seek Witnesses To Three-Car Crash On Route 72

  STAFFORD – Police are asking people to contact them if they have information regarding a three-car crash that took place at the intersection of Route 72 and Breakers Drive on May 21 at 4:30 p.m.

  So far, the investigation determined that a Jeep Cherokee was heading east on Route 72. The driver, Joseph Sanzari, 67, of Barnegat tried to make a left into the Circle K.

  His Jeep was struck by a Hyundai Elantra being driven west by Devan Thatcher, 29, of Forked River. Her car then crossed into the oncoming lane and hit a Mercedes Benz being driven by Robert Anzidei, 63, of Maple Shade.

  Thatcher and Anzidei were flown to the Atlantic City Trauma Center for further medical evaluation. Thatcher was not believed to be wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

  Traffic on Route 72 was directed through the scene for approximately an hour.

  This collision is still under investigation by Patrolman Allen Jillson. Police are asking the public to contact him at Ajillson@staffordpolice.org if they have any information regarding this incident.
