Police Officer Charged With Computer Crimes

  LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP – Sgt. Gerard Traynor of the Long Beach Township Police Department was charged with two counts of Computer Criminal Activity.

  The charges allege that Traynor used secure computer-based information for personal reasons, rather than law enforcement purposes, according to a press release from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

  Long Beach Township has suspended his employment until the matter is concluded, police said. The 52-year-old resides in Beach Haven and Galloway Township. He is also an attorney.

  Traynor, like other defendants, are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
