Police Make Arrests In Barnegat Shooting

BARNEGAT – Police have arrested two men in connection with a May 7 shooting on Lexington Boulevard.

Warrants were issued for Rashon Peten, 29, of Asbury Park, and Raymond McCullers Jr., 25, of Lakewood.

Peten was located in Asbury Park Wednesday afternoon and McCullers in Lakewood that night.

Both were charged with second degree aggravated assault, second degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.

Both are being lodged in Ocean County Jail.

“Barnegat is not the town you want to come to if you’re planning on committing violent crime. We have a 100% clearance rate on our small number of violent crimes for a reason—we have the best officers anywhere and we will pour every available resource into solving these cases,” Barnegat Police Chief Keith Germain said.

Barnegat Police were assisted by the Ocean County Sheriff, United States Marshalls Task Force, Lakewood Police Department Street Crimes Unit, New Jersey State Police.
