STAFFORD — A Beach Haven West resident was arrested after detectives uncovered evidence that he repeatedly fired an air rifle at a neighboring home, causing extensive property damage, authorities said.
Stafford Township Police said detectives from the department’s Detective Bureau and Drug Enforcement Unit served a Temporary Extreme Risk Protective Order and a search warrant at a Jane Drive residence on November 28 as part of a two-month investigation into ongoing criminal mischief.
During the search, officers arrested Mark W. Hazley, 67, and seized a shotgun, an air rifle, large amounts of ammunition and metal BB pellets, as well as a firearms identification card. Investigators said their probe determined Hazley had been shooting the air rifle at a nearby home, damaging multiple windows.
Hazley is charged with second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and five counts of third-degree criminal mischief. He was issued a summons to appear in Ocean County Superior Court.
Detective Zac Halliday served as the arresting officer.
