BARNEGAT – An Ocean County man was killed and a woman was seriously injured after their SUV veered off the Garden State Parkway and crashed on Thursday, officials said.
According to police, George M. Francis, 34, of Lanoka Harbor driving south near milepost 68.2 at around 5 p.m. on January 25 when his vehicle ran off the road to the right, traveled down an embankment and hit both a retaining wall and trees, State Police said.
Francis was ejected from the SUV and died in the crash, State Police said. The front-seat passenger, Bridget Francis, 34, also of Lanoka Harbor, suffered serious injuries. The two children in the back seat were not hurt, State Police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
