OCEAN TOWNSHIP – A Waretown man was arrested today on child pornography charges after a four-month long investigation, announced Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.

Michael D’Elia, 40, was charged with 2nd degree Possession of Child Pornography and 2nd degree Distribution of Child Pornography.

A four-month investigation conducted by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Squad and Homeland Security and Intelligence Squad pinpointed a Waretown address as the source on online child porn distribution. Detectives executed a search warrant at the residence on March 5 where they discovered over 1,000 images on child porn on devices.

Additional charges are pending a complete forensic examination of items seized during the search, according to law enforcement.

D’Elia was processed at the Ocean Township Police Department and is now lodged at the Ocean County Jail pending a hearing.
