MANAHAWKIN – On November 4, Manahawkin Elks Lodge #2340 assembled 50 “care packages” for veterans in low-income residences or awaiting placement in housing or rehab facilities.
This was funded through a Freedom Grant from the Elks National Veterans Service Commission and the charity funds of the Lodge.
The duffel bags contain a blanket, socks, gloves, hats, bath and hand towel, face cloth and personal care items.
Elks Veterans Committee managed the project and will be delivering the duffel bags to organizations in our area, who will provide them to homeless/disadvantaged veterans in a confidential manner.
