LITTLE EGG HARBOR – A 25-year-old Little Egg Harbor man has been charged in the stabbing murder of another township man.

Kendrick Coley is charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and Little Egg Harbor Police Department.

Police were dispatched to 21 Maplewood Drive at 8:15 p.m. May 16 after 911 received a call reporting that man had stabbed another man in the home. Coley is accused of stabbing to death 28-year-old Richard Pone, who was found in the home’s upstairs bedroom. He had a stab wound to the chest, and was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:42 p.m.

Authorities said an altercation erupted between Coley and Pone. Coley retrieved a knife from the home’s kitchen and stabbed Pone in the upstairs bedroom. They said the men were arguing about Pone confronting Coley about an assault against a female at that address earlier.
