LACEY – A precautionary shelter-in-place was briefly enacted at all Lacey Township schools on October 1 after police received a report of a suspicious person walking near the high school.
According to Acting Superintendent William Zylinski, the “secure” procedure was initiated around 1:30 p.m. after a person was spotted along the woodline near Lacey Township High School. Police quickly located and identified the individual, determining there was no threat to students or staff.
The lockdown was lifted within about 10 minutes, and normal operations resumed after 1:40 p.m.
“We would like to thank the Lacey Township Police Department for their swift response and continued partnership in keeping our schools safe,” Zylinski said in a statement to the school community. “The safety and security of our students and staff remain our top priority, and we are proud of how quickly our schools responded to this situation.”
No injuries were reported.
