Joint Effort Shuts Down Drug Distribution Operation

  BARNEGAT- An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force and the Barnegat Township Police Department Crime Reduction Unit identified a township residence as being a cocaine storage and distribution point.

  Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced the conclusion of a joint investigation involving narcotics distribution in the Barnegat area. Detectives obtained a search warrant for a vehicle used by Quamel Peteete, 28, Barnegat, on December 2 resulting in their seizure of approximately 22 grams of cocaine, a quantity of suboxone tablets, and a small quantity of marijuana. 

  Peteete was taken into custody without incident and charged with possession of cocaine in an amount greater than one-half ounce with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of suboxone and possession of marijuana. He is currently lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

  Prosecutor Billhimer thanked the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Asset Forfeiture Unit, and Barnegat Township Police Department Crime Reduction Unit for their work in conducting this investigation.
