OCEAN COUNTY – A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up for the family of the 16-year-old who passed away from a serious car crash.
The crash that happened on January 30 involved a man allegedly speeding and as a result collided with an ongoing car with two teenagers inside. The one teen, Kaitlyn, still remains in critical condition. However, the other teen, 16-year-old Gianna Palmieri, passed away on February 9 due to her injuries.
Friends and co-workers of Gianna have set up a GoFundMe fundraiser for the family. Currently, over $6,000 has been raised with their goal set to $100,000. They’ve also received support from fellow students at Pinelands Regional High School.
Superintendent Melissa McCooley wrote a statement stating “on behalf of the Board of Education, the administrative Team, and myself we are truly devastated and send our prayers and condolences to the family.”
