MANAHAWKIN — Friends and family of Gabriel Saldana will gather October 18 at A. Paul King County Park to celebrate the life of the 17-year-old whose memory continues to inspire those who knew him. Saldana was tragically killed in a crash on Route 72 in Manahawkin on September 30th.
The event, described as a “celebration of life party,” will feature food, refreshments, games, and opportunities for guests to share memories. Organizers said they hope to honor Gabe’s legacy “the way he would’ve wanted,” by bringing people together in joy and reflection.
“Gabe’s life and legacy is a bright light that will continue to shine in everyone he touched,” the invitation reads. Attendees are encouraged to bring printed photos to share and their own chairs for the outdoor gathering.
The celebration begins at noon at the park on West Bay Avenue.
Gabriel Mathew Saldana, affectionately known as Gabe, passed away on September 30, at the age of 17. Born on August 8, 2008, he was known for his radiant spirit, quick wit, and boundless compassion.
From an early age, Gabe filled every space with laughter, music, and kindness. Friends and family said his energy lifted those around him, and his generosity knew no limits. He was endlessly driven to help others and to bring joy wherever he went.
Music was one of Gabe’s greatest passions. He found meaning in every song and lyric, often sharing his favorite tracks with those close to him. Whether spending time with his tight circle of friends, dreaming big about the future, or simply making others laugh, Gabe reminded everyone how much brighter life could be when shared with love.
He is predeceased by his mother, Lauren Elena Saldana; grandfather, Demetrio Saldana; and great-grandparents, Arlene and Lawrence Fredella.
Gabe is survived by his sister, Madison Saldana; his brother, Giovanni; his father, Mathew Saldana; grandparents, Dean and Laura Gulden; grandmother, Gina Wexler; aunt and uncle, Kayla and Sam Dudley; best friend, Nathan Curry; and many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Gabe’s kindness, laughter, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
