Burlington County Man Charged With Assaulting Ocean County Teen

BURLINGTON COUNTY – A Marlton man was arrested after an underage girl accused him of having sex with her.

Charles E. Torrence, 49, was charged with second-degree sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. He was charged with luring in Ocean County.

He is being held in Burlington County Jail.

The girl, who resides in Ocean County, told her parents of the assault. The victim and Torrence had corresponded over social media for about a week before he traveled to her home in Stafford Township and brought her back to his Marlton residence (Evesham Township) for sex.

He was arrested Saturday after a motor vehicle stop in the girl’s housing development.

Evesham Township Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office investigated. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Stafford Township Police Department assisted.
