BARNEGAT – National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day will be observed in the township this weekend.

Township Police will once again be participating in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day with officers stationed at two locations in Barnegat to collect unused and expired prescription medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 24.

Locations for the event include Bayside Chapel at 965 West Bay Ave and the Barnegat Post Office at 830 West Bay Avenue.

In a message from Barnegat Police listed on their Facebook page, the department noted, “please help prevent prescription drug theft and misuse by cleaning out your medicine cabinet.”

Vape pens and e-cigarette devices will also be collected. All batteries must be removed prior to disposal. Syringes however, will not be accepted.

Those unable to make the event this Saturday, a Project Medicine Drop Box is available 24 hours a day in the lobby of the police department for people to dispose their unused prescription medications.
