BARNEGAT – School officials are warning families about a troubling social media challenge that has surfaced among students, involving people filming themselves urinating on school property.
In a letter sent to parents on October 6, Principal Patrick Magee said the behavior has recently appeared within the Barnegat school community and called it “completely reprehensible.”
“This trend not only damages property but also creates serious health and safety risks for students, staff, and the public,” Magee wrote.
The district is working with the Barnegat Police Department to identify anyone involved. Students who take part — or even attempt to participate or simulate participation — could face suspension, removal from school, or referral to law enforcement for possible prosecution.
Officials also warned that students who share, repost, or promote related videos will face disciplinary action.
Magee urged parents to talk to their children about the dangers of online challenges that cause harm or damage property. “Together, with the support of the Barnegat Police Department, we are working to keep our schools safe, respectful, and free from dangerous behavior,” he said.
