LAKEWOOD — An 18-year-old Lakewood man was arrested after allegedly spitting on a police detective and resisting arrest in an active construction zone, authorities said.
Police said Detective Nickens was working an extra-duty traffic detail when he saw Shmaya Schreiber skateboarding through a lane shift, putting himself and drivers at risk. Despite repeated commands to leave the roadway, Schreiber refused, according to the department.
When the detective attempted to stop him to request identification for a summons, Schreiber became combative and spit in the detective’s face, police said. Officers responded to assist, and Schreiber was ultimately taken into custody.
Schreiber is charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, possession of false government documents, and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was taken to the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
Authorities noted that all charges are accusations and that Schreiber is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
