LAKEWOOD — A month-long investigation by the Lakewood Police Department has resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of a defaced firearm, authorities said.
Members of the department’s Street Crimes Unit, assisted by the Special Response Team, executed a court-authorized search warrant at the home of Kharii Pringle, 42, of Lakewood.
During the operation, officers also took Jeffrey Keys, 41, of Toms River, into custody on outstanding warrants.
Police said detectives recovered a defaced firearm from the residence. Investigators also reported finding a high-capacity magazine, hollow point ammunition and a quantity of suspected Ecstasy. Authorities determined that Pringle is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Pringle was charged in connection with weapons and controlled dangerous substance offenses. Both Pringle and Keys were transported to the Ocean County Jail to await court proceedings.
The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation.
Police Chief Gregory H. Meyer said the arrests were the result of coordinated investigative efforts.
“This arrest is the direct result of focused investigative work and strong interagency cooperation,” Meyer said. “Removing illegal firearms from our community remains one of our top priorities.”
Authorities emphasized that the charges are accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
