TOMS RIVER – The Garden State Parkway’s official Twitter warned drivers that there is a six-mile delay heading south at 2:30 p.m.

The back-up is being caused by a “serious crash” that took place at around 1:15 p.m. at mile marker 82.8 in Toms River, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Philip Curry told JerseyShoreOnline.com. No further details were available.

The delay is south of Exit 89A (Route 70 in Lakewood) to north of Exit 82A (Route 37 in Toms River). All lanes are open but they are being clogged due to the crash. This is likely to mix with shore traffic heading south on a Friday in June as well as the evening rush a little later in the afternoon.
