SEASIDE HEIGHTS – The Thunderbird Motel on Kearney Avenue was ablaze as the result of a mattress catching fire.

According to police, a couple ages 56 and 51 were airlifted to the burn center at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston after the fire.

Detectives on scene believe that a cigarette may have lit the mattress afire, but the cause is still under investigation.
