Ocean County Man Pleads Guilty To Discarding Dead Body In Monmouth

FREEHOLD – A Brick man pleaded guilty to discarding a dead body in Wall Township last May.

Edward Ramirez, 51, pleaded guilty to second-degree disturbing or desecrating human remains. He faces five years in prison. Sentencing is Oct. 25.

Home surveillance video from May 17, 2018, showed Ramirez exiting a van, opening its back doors, and dumping the tarp-wrapped body of Jamie Leis, 35, near the curb in the area of Brighton Avenue and Rockefeller Drive in Wall around 2 a.m.

He was arrested June 5, 2018.
